Publications UK to publish Commonwealth 60th anniversary commemorative
Specialist publisher, Publications UK is proud to announce the start of production on a book to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Commonwealth.
In association with the Royal Commonwealth Society, the full-colour book will chart in words and pictures the six decades since the Commonwealth evolved in 1949.
The Commonwealth includes 53 nations and is home to nearly two billion people – a third of the world’s population. It has come to represent the rich diversity of human kind. Queen Elizabeth II believes that the bonds forged during her time as titular head of the Commonwealth have created stability and international understanding contingent to a belief in freedom, democracy, human rights, development and prosperity. “It is,” she says, “a potent force for good.”
Author of the publication will be royal writer Tom Corby MVO who has worked with Publications UK before on two books; Elizabeth Regina: A Celebration of the 80th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Head of the Commonwealth in conjunction with the Royal Commonwealth Society; and Charles: A 60th Birthday Tribute to HRH The Prince of Wales in conjunction with The Prince’s Trust.
The publication will be launched to Heads of Government and delegates at the bi-annual Commonwealth summit (CHOGM) in Trinidad in November 2009.
